Raspberry Delights

My favourite part of baking is in the tasting.  Especially muffins…I have to cut one open while its still hot and smother both sides with delicious butter.  Oh they are so good!

Today's craft was two batches of muffins – well…minus two.  One made gluten free with raspberries and the other made with standard flour and choc chips (at my daughters request).  So that is my mother taken care of with her gluten intolerance and my daughter and her friends have something to munch on.    And me…well, when it comes to sweets I’ll pretty much eat whatever is put in front of me.

This would have to be one of the quickest and easiest muffin recepies i've ever made.  So I tbought I would share it with you all to have a go for yourself:

2 Cups of Self-raising flour
3/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1 cup fresh or frozen berries
1 egg lightly beaten
3/4 cup buttermilk
1/2 cup vegetable oil

1. Grease a six hold muffin pan
2. Sift dry ingredients into large bowl, stir in remaining ingredients
3. Spoon mixture into prepared pan.  Bake in moderately hot oven for 20 minutes.

(the only alteration I made to the receipe was adding a little extra milk to the mix)

Bon Appetite!!

Eat Pray Love - Book Review.

Swelling with insight, Elizabeth teaches through her journey that divinity is everywhere.  Those whom dare to go will find what has all along been there.  Those who seek shall find.  She has shown her incredible depth as a writer and as an individual, through her obvious love and passion for people and everyone’s eternal right to inner peace and happiness.  She displays that we all have the power to transform and inspire.

 Elizabeth Gilbert

What I would call a blissful book at its right time!

This book took me on a journey into my own soul, pinching and lurking into places I thought were forbidden but now I can’t wait to get to and explore.  I recommend this book to anyone that feels they are looking through the gaps into their very being…read, absorb and allow each word to touch your soul and encourage you on your own spiritual journey.

Sensational….a fabulous read….a fabulous journey…..a fabulous teacher!!!

"I could not put this book down I had to keep reading." Clare.

Tides of emotion

Have you ever noticed how Mother Nature reflects your emotions….whether you like it or not!

My realisation of this came to me this morning during my morning walk along the beach.   After hitting the sand with my dog beside me to soak up some clean and fresh air…..I found myself connecting with what the tides had created.   The normally serene and tranquil beach was littered with smelly seaweed, washed up bits and pieces scattered all over the sand, and waves that spoke to me with turmoil in their voice.  This was a direct reflection of how I woke up feeling.  Inner turmoil, disillusioned and scattered.

The question I then found myself facing was……..did I create this external experience through my personal emotions?  Well, it certainly felt that way for me.  It got me to thinking….how I would I feel if the beach was as pristine as it had been the other day, when the water was calm, the sand was clear of debris and the people I encountered greeted me with a friendly smile.  Clarity and connected!  This realisation brought my train of thought back around to identifying with my emotions, changing my thought process completely.   I had moved my mind back in to a state of positivity.  In light of this, I asked myself,  Is it all about awareness?  The ability to be emotionally aware enough, that you can change your perception and therefore adjust your surroundings.  Food for thought.

Perhaps we can all learn by looking around each day and seeing what we are surround by, is it cluttering our perception or is it bringing us a sense of peace.  I believe if we could all take just one moment a day to ask ourselves this and let the realisation unfold we would all have a greater sense of fulfilment and have taken another step to self-acceptance.  Take some time to ponder…What reality have you created today?

Lisa Lam and The Bag Making Bible

I have to share this book with you - The Bag Making Bible!!

Recently I was blogging away, loving others blogs when I came across Lisa Lam's blog 'UHandblog'.  Fueled with a current passion for making handbags it was fantastic to read and see anothers creations.  At the time I wasn't aware I was going to buy her new book, but I do remember reading somewhere about a bag book being put together.

So... I was in town the other day on the hunt for some fresh inspiration...tips, tricks and the like, when I wandered into a bookstore.  Low and behold what was directly in front of me on the shelf....yep...you guessed it, The Bag Making Bible.  So of course it was the first book for me to pick up!  The illustrations were so fantastic and she has displayed instructions in such an easy to follow manner, that anyone can follow them.

Now, I must of stood in that bookstore for an eternity just admiring the pages and soaking up the words and creative energy that radiated from her book.

All the way down to her foreward from Amy Butler is adoring.  What an honour to be spoken of with such admiration.

With my new purchase under my arm I left town with an enthusiasm to create, create, create.  Excursion successful!!!

This book really is a true gem!  If you love to make handbags or anything for that matter I absolutely recommend you add this one to your bookshelf.

If you would like to purchase this book you can do so on Lisa's blog  http://u-handbag.typepad.com/

Happy Reading!!
